Michigan Summer 2012

Our time here in Michigan is coming to a close (only two more days) and as I reflected on our time here, I decided to blog about some of our highlights this summer and procrastinate packing! When we found out Tyler got his internship with Whirlpool in Michigan, we decided it would be best for him to start in May and for me to continue working in Utah until July. May and June were tough months, but it made us appreciate our time together a lot more! This was the last picture we took together before we were apart.
Although I grew up in North Dakota (with no mountains, cities, etc.), and Tyler grew up in Denver (lots of mnts, cities, etc.), we at first found Michigan a hard adjustment. It was hard to leave the mountains, the culture, the cities, and such. But we found that Michigan has a lot to offer and below are some moments from our time here. Michigan's Sunset (Lake Michigan)
We only have a 2-hour drive to Chicago! Chicago Temple:
Chicago Cubs & Wrigley Field:
Chicago Pizza:
Segway Tour:
Taste of Chicago Festival
Only 4 hours away from Amanda!
Only 6 hours away from Nauvoo:
Play on our Whirlpool softball team:
Although I could keep going on with pictures, I'll just highlight more things we did...

  •  -volunteer at Benton Harbor Boys & Girls Club
  • -volunteer at the Therapeutic Equestrian Center
  • -Rachel got the inside view of TR at Mary Free Bed
  • -Rachel & Tyler got to talk with a TR veteran
  • -Go to South Bend for a festival and Silver Hawks Baseball Game
  • -Go to Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo for Fourth of July
  • -get visits from both of our parents
  • -watch the olympics
  • -go to the YMCA almost every day
  • -go to the BEACH - silver beach and tiscornia beach
We have been so blessed to have been able to do so many things and meet so many wonderful people. My favorite part about being here in Michigan was the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity Tyler had with Whirlpool and that we got to spend time together!
